Eye surgery - laser vision correction: LASIK
With LASIK, it is possible to reduce or completely correct various refractive errors: myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
LASIK is a type of refractive laser surgery of the eye. This method can be used on both eyes at the same time. It cannot, however, be used for presbyopia. During the LASIK surgery, the epithelium is not removed, so the eyes heal sooner and the patient does not feel any pain. Before the procedure, the patient is given local anaesthesia in the form of eye drops.
When is vision correction with LASIK recommended?
- myopia from -0.75 to -13.00 dioptres
- hyperopia from +0.75 to +6.00 dioptres
- astigmatism up to 6.00 cylindrical dioptres
What are the benefits of laser vision correction with LASIK?
With LASIK surgery, a lasting improvement in visual acuity is achieved. If your refractive error is small, it is possible to regain full visual function, so you will not need to wear your glasses anymore. For very large defects, at least a partial reduction is possible, so you can use weaker lenses.
